On March 16, 2021 a gunman shot and killed eight people at three Atlanta-area spas. Six of the victims were women of Asian descent. Following the murders, people across the world gathered in vigil and to protest anti-Asian violence.
These images in and around Atlanta are from the weeks after the shooting, culminating in the April 4 funeral of 44-year-old Daoyou Feng. Feng was the last victim to be buried. Her funeral was organized by Atlanta’s Chinese-American community, because she did not have any family in America. The images of the funeral were made on assignment for the Wall Street Journal.
